Business area Industry

Business area Industry provides products and services that make construction and civil engineering projects on the Nordic market more sustainable and cost-​efficient. With local roots we work with both external and internal customers. The business area is run in two units, Swerock/Asphalt and Construction system. Swerock/Asphalt runs product areas mineral aggregates, paving, concrete as well as transportation and machines and Construction system comprises prefab and rentals. All the product areas are aimed at the Nordic construction and civil engineering market.

Net sales and profit

Business area Industry has a very clear seasonal pattern where the first quarter is characterized by substantial deficits since the paving season begins in the second quarter.

July – September 2026

Net sales for the third quarter increased by five percent and amounted to SEK 7,302 million (6,953). The increase is related to both units Swerock/Asphalt and Construction system.

Operating profit improved during the third quarter and was SEK 996 million (875) and the operating margin improved to 13.6 percent (12.6). The operating margin in the unit Swerock/Asphalt was 14.8 percent (14.1) while the operating margin in the unit Construction system was 5.2 percent (0.0).

January – September 2026

Net sales for the period January-September 2026 increased by eight percent and amounted to SEK 16,046 million (14,914). Adjusted for divested operations and exchange rate effects, net sales increased by nine percent. The increase is related to both units Swerock/Asphalt and Construction system.

Operating profit increased during the period and amounted to SEK 1,190 million (870) and the operating margin improved to 7.4 percent (5.8), of which the operating margin in Swerock/Asphalt was 8.1 percent (6.8) and in Construction system 3.8 percent (0.8).

Earnings in paving operations have been high over the past two quarters in all our Nordic countries. High activity within the paving segment, combined with numerous large-scale ongoing infrastructure projects, is contributing positively to Swerock’s operations. During 2025, a review and implementation of measures in part of the Norwegian paving and mineral aggregates operations were initiated due to low profitability, which entailed higher costs. In connection with the discontinuation of operations, capital gains from the sale of fixed assets had a positive effect during the period January-September 2026. In the unit Construction system greater activity in both prefab and rentals contributed to a higher operating profit.

For the latest rolling 12 month period, the operating margin in business area Industry amounted to 8.5 percent compared to 7.4 percent for the full year 2025, of which the operating margin in Swerock/Asphalt was 9.6 percent (8.6 in 2025) and 3.5 percent (1.2 in 2025) in Construction system.

Capital employed at the end of the period was SEK 10,480 million compared to SEK 10,034 million at the end of September 2025.

Orders received and order backlog

July – September 2026

The level of orders received amounted to 2,460 million (2,440) during the third quarter. The level of orders received decreased in Swerock/Asphalt while it increased in Construction system.

January – September 2026

The level of orders received during the period January-September was slightly lower and amounted to SEK 9,482 million (9,905). The decline in orders received is related to Swerock/Asphalt and the Finnish and Norwegian paving operations. The level of orders received during the period increased in Construction system. The order backlog for the business area was slightly higher at the end of September compared to the end of the corresponding period in 2025, amounting to SEK 5,107 million (4,907).
