Business area Industry

Business area Industry provides products and services that make construction and civil engineering projects on the Nordic market more sustainable and cost-​efficient. With local roots we work with both external and internal customers. The business area is run in two units, Swerock/Asphalt and Construction system. Swerock/Asphalt runs product areas mineral aggregates, paving, concrete and transportation and machines and Construction system comprises prefab and rentals. All the product areas are aimed at the Nordic construction and civil engineering market.

Net sales and profit

Business area Industry has a very clear seasonal pattern where the first quarter is characterized by substantial deficits since the paving season begins in the second quarter.

April – June 2026

Net sales for the second quarter 2026 increased by eleven percent and amounted to SEK 6,282 million (5,678). The increase is related to both units Swerock/Asphalt and Construction system.

Operating profit improved during the second quarter and amounted to SEK 606 million (544) and the operating margin was 9.6 percent (9.6). The operating margin in Swerock/Asphalt was 10.8 percent (10.9) while the operating margin in Construction system was 3.6 percent (1.2).

January – June 2026

Net sales for the first half-year 2026 increased by ten percent and amounted to SEK 8,744 million (7,961). Adjusted for divested operations and exchange rate effects, net sales increased by eleven percent. The increase is related to both units Swerock/Asphalt and Construction system.

Operating profit improved during the first half-year and amounted to SEK 194 million (-5) and the operating margin was 2.2 percent (-0.1), of which the operating margin in Swerock/Asfalt was 1.8 percent (-0.4) and in Construction system 3.2 percent (1.1).

During 2025, a review and implementation of measures in part of the Norwegian paving and mineral aggregates operations were initiated due to low profitability, which entailed higher costs. In connection with the discontinuation of operations, capital gains from the sale of fixed assets had a positive effect during the first half-year 2026. In the unit Construction system greater activity in both prefab and rentals contributed to a higher operating profit.

For the latest rolling 12 month period, the operating margin in business area Industry amounted to 8.1 percent compared to 7.4 percent for the full year 2025, of which the operating margin in Swerock/Asphalt was 9.3 percent (8.6 in 2025) and 2.3 percent (1.2 in 2025) in Construction system.

Capital employed at the end of the period was SEK 10,435 million compared to SEK 10,391 million at the end of June 2025.

Orders received and order backlog

April – June 2026

The level of orders received increased by twelve percent during the second quarter amounting to SEK 4,082 million (3,630). The level of orders received increased in both Swerock/Asphalt and Construction system during the quarter.

January – June 2026

The level of orders received during the first half-year was slightly lower and amounted to SEK 7,022 million (7,465). The decline in orders received is related to Swerock/Asphalt and the Finnish and Norwegian paving operations. The level of orders received increased in Construction system during the period. The order backlog for the business area on June 30, 2026 amounted to SEK 7,678 million (7,399).
